Here is the empty Starlight lounge. This lounge held many great acts over the years. The last act was Wonder Boogie, who is known for their renditions of 70's and 80's music. They definitely rocked the house and this lounge went out in style.

One last look at the Player's Club desk. The desk closed at 11am to customers, for the last time.

Here is one last look at the slot area in the center of the casino that greeted people as they entered from the porte cochere

Around 11:40am, the band was going strong. People sipping on their last remaining drinks. The last patrons had finished their meals in the cafe. All the chips had been cashed in. The band made an announcement to follow them in the world's longest conga line.
The music began...
Oh when the saints go marching in
When the saints go marching in
Oh lord I want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in
Everyone started filing in behind the band. The band played with such heart and gusto...
And when the sun refuse (begins) to shine
And when the sun refuse (begins) to shine
Oh lord I want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in
As we all snaked along through the casino, the employees, all wearing their commerative black Closing Team November 1, 2006 tshirts, lined our path and began clapping and waving and thanking everyone. As sad of an event as it should have been, it was actually a joyous occasion.
When the moon turns red with blood
When the moon turns red with blood
Oh lord I want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in
Instead of dwelling on the demise of a cherished favorite place that held many memories, we were celebrating all the joy and memories she has given us over the last 48 years.
On that hallelujah day
On that hallelujah day
Oh lord I want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in
The band led us to the front doors of the porte cochere. Everyone filed out into the middle and the band kept playing..
Oh when the trumpet sounds the call
Oh when the trumpet sounds the call
Oh lord I want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in

There was a couple more choruses...
Oh when the saints go marching in
When the saints go marching in
Oh lord I want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in
And then it was over.
The band finished.
The doors were locked.
And this lovely lady was closed forever.

People walked away with their heads held high. They were proud to give this place the send off it deserved. It was quite the memorable event. One that will stay with me forever.
The Stardust went out as a classy, dignified lady. This place was never left unkept. Her death was untimely, as there was much left inside of her to give to others. It is unfortunate that future visitors to Las Vegas will never get to see this part of the old Vegas. All we have left are wonderful memories.
Every time I hear "When the Saints Go Marching In," I will forever think of the Stardust.
Oh when the saints go marching in
When the saints go marching in
Oh lord I want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in
RIP lovely lady, gone, but never forgotten
